Veliko Tarnovo transport – BDZ restores the fast train Gorna Oryahovitsa – Kazanlak – Plovdiv

FINALLY! A train connects Northern and Southern Bulgaria!

From 12.02.2014 BDZ restores the direct fast train from Gorna Oryahovitsa to Plovdiv via Veliko Tarnovo. It also connects Dryanovo, Tryavna, Kazanlak, Karlovo and Banya, with convenient connections to and from Gabrovo and Hisar.

The two trains were canceled in the summer of 2023. After the repair work at the Plovdiv railway junction forced the suspension of train traffic between Plovdiv and Filipovo station. Since the deadline for launching the section has been postponed several times and there is still no traffic on it, trains No. 4631 and No. 4632 will run to and from Filipovo station, located in the northern part of Plovdiv.

Vasil Levski street in Veliko Tarnovo is now open for traffic

The main street Vasil Levski Str. in Veliko Tarnovo was open for traffic yesterday. Although the municipality announced last Friday that it was extending the repair work period on the main street until the end of January, the contractor eventually managed to complete the work. With the opening of the street, the teams will continue the excavation activities and the replacement of the pipes in the section in front of the Court House, which requires the closure of the northern lane. The traffic through the crossroads will be carried out in both directions along the southern lane.

Construction of a buffer parking lot in Veliko Tarnovo

The construction of the first of the two buffer parking lots in Veliko Tarnovo has started.

The investment for the construction of the parking lot amounts to BGN 900,000 without VAT and it will be situated under the Baldwin Tower – in the Frankhisar area. It is a part of the large project of the Municipality for integrated urban transport, and the contractor is “Road Construction-VT”. The parking lot will be located on an area of 6.3 decares, and the idea is for tourists to stop there and use the parking ticket to travel by electric buses without traffic jams. The three electric buses, which the Municipality bought for BGN 1.9 million, have already been delivered and located in a garage until the parking lot is built.

The renovation of the Pass of the Republic has been completed

In the afternoon of November 11, the traffic on the repaired nearly 22 km from the Pass of the Republic – road II-55, in the section Kilifarevo – Predela is restored. With the completion of the construction works the traffic safety during the forthcoming winter season should be highly increased.

Hainboaz is an extremely tense road artery in our country, with between 8,000 and 12,000 vehicles pass daily through it. The route is the main road connection for the intensive heavy traffic between Northern and Southern Bulgaria, as well as for the passengers from the Danube Bridge 1 border crossing through Stara Planina to the Kapitan Andreevo and Makaza border checkpoint. The condition of the pass on the territory of Veliko Tarnovo region was highly compromised. There were broken safety nets and guardrails, the slopes needed to be torn down and stabilized.
