Hidden underground baths of several centuries can become the new tourist attraction in Veliko Tarnovo

An architectural landmark of more than four centuries hides under the ground, overgrown with bushes, in Veliko Tarnovo. These are the old Turkish baths, called hammams, built during the Turkish occupation, which are located by the Yantra River, at the foot of the Humanities High School. The idea to clear the spaces belongs to ​​the enthusiasts from the club “TAM”, who are developing the project “Open City”.

They recently posted pictures of the interior of one of the bathrooms. Few devotees had the opportunity to get acquainted with its authentic beauty. Beautiful arches, lavish oriental ornaments, traces of mosaics and murals are still well preserved in the space, which is hidden from the eyes of passers.

The renovation of the Pass of the Republic has been completed

In the afternoon of November 11, the traffic on the repaired nearly 22 km from the Pass of the Republic – road II-55, in the section Kilifarevo – Predela is restored. With the completion of the construction works the traffic safety during the forthcoming winter season should be highly increased.

Hainboaz is an extremely tense road artery in our country, with between 8,000 and 12,000 vehicles pass daily through it. The route is the main road connection for the intensive heavy traffic between Northern and Southern Bulgaria, as well as for the passengers from the Danube Bridge 1 border crossing through Stara Planina to the Kapitan Andreevo and Makaza border checkpoint. The condition of the pass on the territory of Veliko Tarnovo region was highly compromised. There were broken safety nets and guardrails, the slopes needed to be torn down and stabilized.

The long-awaited renovation of Bulgaria Blvd. in Veliko Tarnovo starts today

From today – November 5, the implementation of the project for replacement of the water supply network under Bulgaria Blvd. and partially – under Bacho Kiro St. and Tsar Samuil St. (next to the intersection with Tsar Todor Svetoslav St.) begins.  The first stage of the renovation starts from Tsar Samuil Street, which will be excavated to replace the water supply and sewerage collector and  will last two weeks. The residents in the area have already been warned to move their cars so that the contractor company can start the repair. The temporary organization of the traffic is prepared and will be directed through the nearby Tsar Ivan Alexander str., next to the polyclinic.

Gradually, the excavation works will be moved in the direction of the court and along the boulevard, and due to the huge four-meter trenches the traffic will be closed and redirected in parts.

New anti-epidemic measures come into force today

As of today, November 4th, all planned admission and operative activity in the medical establishments on the territory of the country will be temporarily suspended. Exceptions are allowed for activities related to transplantation of organs and cells, diagnosis and treatment of patients with oncological and onco hematological diseases, assisted reproduction activities and births, regardless of the method of delivery, rehabilitation activities, long-term treatment and psychiatric care. These measures are stated in an order of the Minister of Health Dr. Stoycho Katsarov, issued yesterday.

The aim is to reduce the pressure on the health system on one hand and on the other hand, it will be possible for unloaded wards to be restructured into COVID units and medical teams to be reassigned to serve patients with COVID-19.
