The residents of Veliko Tarnovo region can make a donation of essential goods for the people in need in Ukraine. Clothes, shoes, blankets, food and sanitary materials are collected at the Bulgarian Red Cross checkpoint in the old capital.
People of all ages are involved in the campaign of the Bulgarian Red Cross and the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo to raise material aid for the people of Ukraine. The donation point, located at 14 Marno Pole Street, is open every weekday from 9:00 to 11:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00 and is staffed by two volunteers from the organization. Dozens of packs of baby diapers, bedding, hygiene items, etc. have been collected over the past week.
Everyone brings what and as much as their abilities allow. The collected items will be transported directly to those in need in Ukraine, and so far 8 trucks with humanitarian aid have been sent from the organization’s headquarters in Sofia. What is needed is mainly bedding sets, blankets, women’s, men’s and children’s clothes and shoes, toiletries and sanitary goods, tents, batteries, generators.
The requirements for textile items are to be brand new, with a label. This is necessary due to the need for documents for disinfection of goods, as required at the borders for used items. If they are not presented, the aid will not reach the Ukrainians. However, donations without a label will not be returned, but will be sent to the various municipalities in the region for the accommodated Ukrainian people.
Cash donations are also collected at the cash desk in the bank account opened by the Bulgarian Red Cross and via SMS to the short number 1466.
