Veliko Tarnovo nominated for tourist municipality of the year

Veliko Tarnovo was nominated for tourist municipality of 2018. The old capital is among the nominees for the annual business tourism awards – Bulgarian Travel Awards and the voting continues until March 31. The nominees are the municipalities of Varna, Samokov, Sliven, Devin, Kyustendil, Vratsa, Bansko, Veliko Tarnovo and Velingrad.

The annual Bulgarian Travel Awards are a project of “Tourist Academy” Ltd. The initiative is national and aims to increase the quality of tourism services in Bulgaria.

The national cultural monuments on the territory of the municipality are 102, the sites in Veliko Tarnovo with local significance are 333, and 200 other old buildings in the city are in procedures for being declared cultural values. Near Veliko Tarnovo is the picturesque architectural reserve Arbanassi. A true Roman jewel is the nearby Archaeological Reserve Nicopolis ad Isturm. Veliko Tarnovo also has the only Miniature Park in Bulgaria, with models of the most significant historical and natural Bulgarian sights.
