The pedestrian overpass will be located over Magistralna Street in Veliko Tarnovo, which is part of the main road Sofia – Varna. The installation activities started today – April 27, and will last for four days – until April 30 inclusive.
The modules of the facility are of the truss type, which are mounted and connected by a special crane. Therefore, in the period from April 27 to 30, or until the end of the work, Magistralna Street will be closed for traffic in the section from the Trade Park to the crossroads in Slavyanska Street.
The following bypass routes for transit traffic are introduced:
– direction to Sofia: South road junction – Republican road Ruse-V. Tarnovo-Gabrovo – Dalga Laka Street – San Stefano Street – Kozludzha Street – Western Road Junction;
– direction to Varna: Western road junction – Kozludzha Street – San Stefano Street – Dalga Laka Street – Ruse-V Republican Road. Tarnovo-Gabrovo – Southern road junction.
The pedestrian overpass is being built under the project for integrated urban transport, which the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo is implementing under the Operational Program “Growing Regions” 2014-2020. It will facilitate the pedestrian connection of the neighborhoods “Buzludzha” and “Zone B” with the central boulevard “Nikola Gabrovski”, public facilities in the area of MOBAL “Dr. Stefan Cherkezov” and the hospital itself.
The construction activities started with the implementation of the main structures, foundations and supporting columns. The facility itself is of modular type, will be fully covered, with lighting and access for people with reduced mobility.
