Stricter anti-epidemic measures aiming to reduce the cases of COVID-19 are coming into force from Thursday. The restrictions will affect all spheres of public life, and the health authorities assure that the control will be many times stricter than the one currently in force. All activities that are carried out indoors will be allowed only for people holding the so-called “green certificate”. This document is issued when the vaccination cycle is completed by the immunization centers or the personal doctor. The second option is to present a PCR or antigen test done 48 hours earlier or a document for illness up to a year back in time.
The requirement for a green certificate applies to all cinemas, theaters, circuses, museums, galleries, malls, shops over 300 square meters, gyms, clubs, swimming pools, restaurants, hotels. At the entrance of the sites, visitors must certify that they have the so-called green certificate. The requirement for a green certificate does not apply to children below 18 years.
The restriction will not apply to public transport users, as it would prevent many people from going to work. Visits to hospitals and social institutions have been suspended since Thursday, and those working in these establishments must have a green certificate. Open-air markets remain open for the time being, and the requirement there is to maintain a distance of 1.5 meters between visitors.
In all municipalities where the 14-day morbidity is over 750 per 100,000 population, students will study in an electronic environment. If the infected are between 500 and 750 per 100,000 people, 50 percent of the classes will be in person and the rest online. The green certificate becomes an entrance for in-person learning for students at universities.
Control over the implementation of the new measures will be entrusted to the RHI, the police and the Food Safety Agency. The Minister of Health, Dr. Stoycho Katsarov, emphasized that he would also monitor for possible misuse of tests in laboratories and the issuance of fake green certificates. He added that if the new restrictions do not work and the incidence continues to rise, a national lockdown will follow.
