Veliko Tarnovo will once again become the capital of jazz in July

From July 9 to July 11 Veliko Tarnovo will once again become the jazz capital thanks to Dixie Jazz Fest. Despite the restrictions imposed by Covid-19 and the strict anti-epidemic measures we have been observing for months, the old capital will once again be swinging and jazzing. As always, the citizens of Veliko Tarnovo will be among the first to hear the latest projects on the Bulgarian jazz scene. This year Dixie Jazz Fest will be even more necessary because, as the ancient Greeks noted – a healthy body depends on a healthy spirit and vice versa, and we have no reason not to believe them.

Of course, the festival will take place in strict compliance with the prescribed measures for social distance, hygiene and disinfection. And most importantly – good mood. In all three festival evenings, from July 9 to 11, there will be two concerts at the Asenevtsi monument. The starting time is 20:00, and the usual jam sessions in Melon Club will be from 00:00. On Thursday, the Festival Quartet represented by Rumen Halachev (alto saxophone), Ventsislav Blagoev (trumpet), Velislav Stoyanov (contrabass) and Emil Kosturkov (drums) will pay tribute to Charlie Parker. After them, A3ck will perform. A3ck is a must-listen experiment beyond the conventional. The music recipe is written by Vladislav Michev (bass trumpet/synthesizers), Dimitar Blagoev (guitar), Evden Dimitrov (bass guitar and effects), Alexander Gauthier – drums.

Friday night will start with the faces of the festival – the hosts of the Royal Dixie Band, followed by Space Kadillak – a project with music by guitarist Alexander Logozarov, joined by Rosen Zahariev – trumpet, Mihail Ivanov – bass and Stefan Goranov – drums. The festival therapy ends on Saturday with the quintet Spectrum Vocal Band. And finally, the jazz fest will be closed by Miro Ivanov & The Little Aliens.

Sadly, in recent information, the event has been cancelled.
