Homemade Plum Rakiya
This year the Festival of Plum in Troyan, near Veliko Tarnovo, will be held from 19 to 22 September.
The event will offer residents and visitors a rich folklore program with shows and concerts of various dance formations, Berkovska brass music, Trayana folklore ensemble and a youth night with the participation of instrumental groups.
The biggest attractions of the Plum Festival are set to be the culinary contest for both professionals and amateurs, the competition for original plum based cocktails and of course the best home-made plum rakiya challenge. Traditional culinary delights will also be shown during the fest
A number of ceramics, painting and wood carving workshop will also be set up. Master craftsmen from Troyan and the country will arrange their works along the Crafts Street in the town. Many producers will also present their fresh fruit, prunes, marmalade and jams.
