With the onset of September, we begin to dream of cooler weather and the colourful autumn. And with that comes the Night of the Samovodska Charshia and the Crafts Festival. This year the festival will be held from 18 to 23 September 2020. What is more, the edition is a special one – its the X-th anniversary edition.
If you remember the decoration of colourful umbrellas from last year caused a huge delight. So many people were wondering what could surpass it. There were many suggestions – from colourful lanterns to masks but the organizers announced that the decoration for 2020 will be…kites! The upcoming festival will offer many emotions and a rich art program to the residents of the old capital and the guests of the city.
During the festival, 70 artists from all over the country will showcase their handmade ceramics, candles, jewellery, accessories, toys, leather, boutique and interior products and many more. Special stands will offer products and foods of proven eco origin. In their workshops, the master craftsmen from the Samovodska Charshia will demonstrate the ancient technologies they have preserved.
Against the background of the unique architecture and authentic atmosphere of Old Tarnovo there will be performances by street artists and musicians, interactive games, children’s entertainment and many more performances. For the first time, the event will host talents from the Sofia Circus Academy with workshops on juggling, acrobatics and pantomime for children and adults as well as evening interactive programs and fire shows. A variety of music will be heard during the evening concerts which will feature Yanitsa Ruseva, Lilia Angelicheva and Gergana Stoyanova, Steliana Hristova and Petko Savov, Veselina Popova, the groups “KOVU”, “Pierratti”, “CoolDen”, “Hashtag”, “The Drivers” and others.
It should be mentioned that this year the Samovodska Charshia got featured in an article by CNN titled “Bulgaria: Wild majesty in one of Europe’s oldest countries“. It presents 5 places in Bulgaria that deserve the attention of tourists. These are Nessebar, Veliko Tarnovo, Burgas, Rila and Pirin. Veliko Tarnovo is described as a medieval fairy tale that is a must-visit place.
