International Mavrud Day in Veliko Tarnovo – Traditional Bulgarian drink festival

This traditional Bulgarian drink festival will take place in Veliko Tarnovo on 7th and 8th of October

After the successful start of the city wine festivals in 2022. This year the Urban wine fest will make its debute in one of the most historically significant and picturesque cities of Bulgaria – Veliko Tarnovo. On October 7 and 8, 2023, the festive atmosphere will reign over the Architectural-Ethnographic Complex “Samovodska Bazaar” and Khan Hadji Nikoli:
07/10/2023: 12:00 – 21:00
08/10/2023: 11:00 – 18:00


Come on October 7th and 8th to Khan Hadji Nikoli, where you will find:

Wine bar with a wide selection of Bulgarian wines from local and favorite varieties. And also including an accent with wines from the cellars of the region.
Also there will be culinary delights, prepared by local master chefs, to combine harmoniously with the wines of the festival;
The unique atmosphere and spirit of the old capital: friendly meetings, positive emotions and new acquaintances!

Visit the festival and (re)discover not only popular, but also lesser-known Bulgarian varieties and wines. The BAVP team will professionately present them.
Entrance to Urban wine fest is free, but you have to pay your consumption on the spot.

The International Mavruda Day is an initiative of the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals. Also it’s held under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism, with the official support of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo.

The International Mavrud Day is dedicated to the ancient native to Bulgaria grape variety, Mavrud. 

Dedicated to one of the oldest and most distinctive Bulgarian grape varieties. The International Mavrud Day aims to provoke deeper interest and understanding for Bulgarian viticulture and winemaking. It wishes to highlight the remarkable harmony between tradition and innovation that drives modern Bulgarian winemaking, and the quality and stylistic diversity of Bulgarian wines.
