In three festival evenings, viewers in Veliko Tarnovo events program will be able to see a selected selection of short films. The films are comming from around the world. The genres will include feature, documentary, animation, and experimental cinema. This will be possible within the framework of the 3-day International Film Festival “Quarantine” 2023. It will be held on June 8, 9 and 10 in the Old Capital. The venue is the “Asenevtsi” monument, and the screenings will start at 9 p.m. An hour earlier, there will be live musical performances on site.
All films have Bulgarian and English subtitles, and admission to the screenings is free.
“Quarantine” International Film Festival is organized and held entirely and only on a voluntary basis. Therefore, it’s with free admission. The organizer of the event is “Daedalus” School – Varna.
The event is part of the calendar of cultural events – municipality of Veliko Tarnovo events.

What to expect from this Veliko Tarnovo event:
Short film up to 30 minutes, created in the last 2 years. Genres: feature, documentary, animation, experimental, video art. A wide range of topics are in focus: ecology and environmental protection, preservation of authentic cultures, stories about extreme places, people, events, socially significant, human relations topics and others.
In 2022, the festival passed with great interest, gathering hundreds of spectators who enjoyed 41 short films. The audience also listens to live original music by various artists: the Veliko Tarnovo duet Milanov/Paunov. And eclectic and improvisational music combining a variety of styles – jazz, funk, bossa nova, fusion. Also including ethnic elements from Balkan, African and Eastern traditions. That were composed by Nikolay Ivanov – OM and performed by “Two Men Orchestra & Vesela Morova”. As well as the Varna trio “Groove Lines Project” with a mixture of fusion, blues, jazz-rock and funk. The compositions were mainly by Georgi Harizanov.
The prestigious EFFE Label awarded the film festival “Quarantine”. It’s Europe’s quality stamp for remarkable arts festivals. Showing their engagement in the field of the arts, community involvement and international openness.
