An attractive spectacle in front of the Tsarevets fortress will take us back in time to the 12th century and in particular – the glorious 1185. The theatrical historical reconstruction will recreate the uprising of the boyar brothers Peter and Asen, which led to the rejection of the Byzantine empire and the restoration of the Bulgarian kingdom. The stage of the event will be Tsar Asen I Square in front of the Tsarevets fortress in Veliko Tarnovo.
The Asenevtsi brothers will enter riding their faithful horses and accompanied by their closest entourage. They will declare Tarnovgrad the capital and mark the beginning of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. The performance will combine theatrical art, medieval music, fire show and combat demonstrations. It will start at 18:00 on October 24 / Saturday / with a presentation of Bulgarian and Byzantine weaponry from the Middle Ages, a demonstration of combat techniques and musical performances by the group “Erinei”.
The culmination will be at 18:45 – the reconstruction will turn into the historical-theatrical performance “The Greatness of Assenevtsi” based on the play by Ivan Mitev. Part of the show is a fire show by the group “Paliachi”, and the finale is at 19:30 with the audiovisual spectacle “Tsarevgrad Tarnov – sound and light”.
