Autumn Festival at the Samovodska Charshia from October 24th to 26th

From October 24th to 26th, 2020, an autumn festival will conquer the Samovodska Charshia in Veliko Tarnovo. In the days around St. Dimitar’s Day, the Crafts Street will be painted with a colourful palette of tones, aromas and will delight with its autumn cosiness.

Autumn Festival at the Samovodska Charshia

In the three days of the “Golden Blessed Autumn of the Samovodska Charshia” there will be an exhibition-bazaar of craftsmen, creators of handmade beauties and agricultural producers, and master craftsmen from the architectural and ethnographic complex will make demonstrations in their studios. The bazaar will offer honey, dried fruits and herbs for tea, spices, nuts, roasted chestnuts, traditional Bulgarian seasonal pastries, juices, wines, etc.

The event is part of the initiatives of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo to mark the 835th anniversary of the uprising of Asen and Petar and the restoration of the Bulgarian state and St. Dimitar’s Day – Builder’s Day.

The autumn fest will be each of the three days from 10.00 to 18.00. There will also be a concert program on the stage of the Samovodska Charshia Square over the weekend.

October 24th (Saturday):
11.00 – “Singing bells” – Children’s’ vocal group
12.30 – “Bolyarche” – Children’s’ dance group
16.00 – “Bulgarche” – Children’s and youth folklore ensemble
18.00 – Big bend Veliko Tarnovo

October 25th (Sunday):
11.00 – “Retrorhythm” – Debelets – group for urban songs
12.00 – “Pletenitsa” – Dance club
18.00 – “KOVU” and “Hashtag” groups

On the 24th there will be festivities on Tsar Asen I Square as well. From 18.00 there will be demonstrations of weaponry and techniques from the middle ages, a concert by the group “Erinei” and a fire spectacle by “Paliachi”. A historical theatre spectacle for the announcement of Asen and Petar’s uprising will start at 18.45. And of course, there will be a broadcast of the audiovisual spectacle “Tsarevgrad Tarnov – sound and light” at 19.30.

On October 26th there will be a festive liturgy at the church of the Assumption. At 11 a procession will start from there to the “St. Dimitar Solunski” church-museum. Afterwards, there will be a prayer and a festive speech by the mayor of Veliko Tarnovo. As well as a folklore program by the “Iskra” professional folklore ensemble and a movie screening dedicated to Asen and Petar’s uprising.
