A new campaign for the collection of hazardous waste from households will be held in Veliko Tarnovo. A mobile station will be located on February 24 and 25 in the big districts of Buzludzha and Kolyu Ficheto. In each of the two days, its working hours will be from 10.00 to 16.00. In the Buzludzha district, the checkpoint will be located in the parking lot in front of the neighborhood market on February 25, and on the next day it will be located in the Kolyu Ficheto district – in the parking lot on Simeon Veliki Street – opposite Mall Veliko Tarnovo.
Anyone can dispose of the following types of waste: expired medicines, contaminated packaging, mercury thermometers, fluorescent tubes, cleaning agents, disinfectants, chemicals, pesticides, oils and adhesives, obsolete electrical and electronic equipment; use of batteries and accumulators; obsolete tires. Organizers of this campaign are the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo and Balbok Engineering AD. The campaign is the first in a series of actions for the collection of hazardous household waste, planned in 2022.
The site for separate waste collection in Veliko Tarnovo is now operating
From January 31st residents of the city and settlements of the municipality are able to hand over waste (packaging) of metal, glass, paper and plastic. An electronic scale with the respective software is installed for their weighing.
In order to accumulate a quantity that ensures the return of part of the garbage fee, it is necessary to state the batch number of the property, against which everyone will receive their own chip.
The site is located in the industrial area “Long Laka”. The site includes a sufficient number of containers for all types of separate collected waste, including large ones. The working hours are from Monday to Saturday inclusive – from 8:30 to 17:00.
From March, a mobile point for separate collection of packaging waste will start operating as well and it will travel to the neighborhoods on a schedule over the weekends.
The Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo appeals for separate waste collection both on the site and through the use of colored containers of “Eco Partners” Bulgaria. Garbage that is recyclable, but enters the total waste stream in mixed containers and compressed by garbage collection machines proves to be unsuitable material for subsequent recycling.
