51 new cases of coronavirus infected in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours

The total number of people infected with coronavirus from the beginning of the epidemic in Bulgaria has reached 1488. Over the past 24 hour hours 51 new cases have been reported. This was announced at the morning briefing of the National Operational Headquarters.

Yesterday, 1156 PCR tests were performed. Thus, the number of tested people in Bulgaria has reached 6,500 per a million people. There are newly infected people in 11 areas. 7 are the newly registered cases in Sofia, 13 in Pleven, 11 in Plovdiv, 7 in Vidin and 4 in Kyustendil. There are 2 cases in Vratsa and Pernik respectively and one in Gabrovo, Ruse, Smolyan and Stara Zagora each. In the last 24 hours, 4 people with COVID-19 have died, making the total number of deaths caused by the coronavirus 65.

23 people have been cured, which makes the total number of recovered patients 266. A total of 310 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 have been hospitalized. Of these, 38 are in intensive care. On Wednesday, for the first time, blood plasma was collected from cured volunteers with proven antibodies and a blood infusion was performed on a sick patient at the Military Medical Academy. This morning the patient is feeling well and has no fever, reported the head of the National Operational Headquarters.

Donations totaling 4 299 780 leva have been received to the bank accounts of the Ministry of Health. Of these, 1 326 300 have the explicit will of the contributors. Accordingly, 1.2 million went to the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases and the remainder to other hospitals, the Heath Minister said.
