Things to do in Veliko Tarnovo in December – part 1

If you are wondering what to do in Veliko Tarnovo in December, we have the perfect suggestion for you.

Traditional Christmas bazaar in Veliko Tarnovo

Up to January 1 of the new year, “Marno Pole” park is a peculiar Christmas town, full of fabulous surprises.
For the first time, the attractions of the bazaar are located together with the festive stage in front of the entrance to the Summer Theatre. An interesting and festive music programme awaits you throughout the month with the participation of local performers, formations, and groups.

For the second year in a row, next to the traditional houses, the new wooden pavilions will be located to present an even greater variety of goods.
At the Christmas Bazaar you’ll find great Christmas gifts and decorations, lucky charms, candles, leather and woodwork, home and tree decorations, handmade jewellery, paintings, iris photography, and much more.

Winter is the season of sweet treats

At the market, you will find a wide variety of Christmas cookies, pastries and homemade cakes. You can also find hot chocolate, doughnuts, cookies, waffles, as well as healthy protein bars and candies. If you feel like eating something salty, you can try various meat delicacies and traditional mulled wine.

A hit this year are the pig’s ears, which are prepared according to a special recipe by master chef Vilislava.

The Christmas bazaar in Marno Pole Park is already gaining momentum. So far, the most attractive are the culinary delights that gather lovers in the evening.

Pig ears are prepared according to a special secret recipe. “The ears are boiled, marinated, and then grilled. Our marinade is a secret; “I don’t tell it; that’s why they are so tasty,” says Vilislava.

Especially preferred are also the kravavitsa, prepared according to a home recipe, the traditional skewers, garnished with vegetables, sujutsi and lukanki. Tripe soup and butcher soup are boiled in special pots every night. Customers are particularly satisfied with them because they act as a warming agent on cold winter days

Charity campaigns

In anticipation of Christmas, several charity campaigns will traditionally be held at the bazaar. One of the houses will be available to the talented people from the social services in the municipalitY. And it will house the charity exhibition “We Can”, which is being organized for the 18th year in a row. The “I Want a Baby” foundation, the Bulgarian Red Cross, the “Children’s Heart” association and the Interact club will participate in another house with their own initiatives.
