The regional museum is organizing a walking tour with a talk for March 3 – Event Veliko Tarnovo

The Regional History Museum organizes a free walking tour with dedicated to 146 years since the Liberation of Bulgaria

The tour will be to historical places related to the national liberation movement. The Russian-Turkish war led to the restoration of Bulgarian statehood.
this event Veliko Tarnovo will start at 10:00 a.m. from “Saedinenie” square N 1 in front of the “Revival and Constituent Assembly” museum. The tour will pass along the route of the “Prison” museum, the “Sarafkin House” museum. And also will pass the “Gurko” street and the “Mother Bulgaria” monument. Tour guides will be Teodora Guleva and Petko Petkanski. Both museums will admit tour participants free of charge.

The museum sites that will be open on the holiday will be the “Tsarevets” fortress, the Archaeological Museum, the “Prison” and “Sarafkina House” museums. Also the church of “St. 40 Martyrs” and Multimedia Visitor Center “Tsarevgrad Tarnov” will welcome visitors. “Constantsalieva House” and Church “Nativity of Christ” in Arbanasi will be opened on 3th of March.

The “Trapezitsa,” “Vazrazhdane and Constituent Assembly,” and “New History” museums will not accept visitors on March 3. Close for visitors will be “Shishmanova Bath”, the Tarnovo churches “St. St. Peter and Paul”, “St. Dimitar” and “St. George”. In Arbanasi, the churches of St. Archangels Michael and Gabriel and St. Georgi will not be holding services. The Archaeological Reserve “Nicopolis ad Istrum,” the History Museum in Kilifarevo, and the House Museum “Filip Totyu” in Voneshta Voda village will close as well.

On March 4 and 5, 2024, the “Prison” and “Sarafkina House” museums will not work.

The Shipka Freedom Monument will be opened for the holiday.

On March 3, Metropolitan Cyprian will officiate a thanksgiving prayer to begin the holiday in the Nativity of Christ memorial church in the town of Shipka. From 11:30 a.m. there will be the solemn celebration of the 146th anniversary of the Liberation of Mt. Shipka. The poetic composition, requiem prayer, speeches, and adoption of the order make up the official program for the National Day celebration. At 12:00 p.m. people will worship and lay wreaths and flowers in front of the Freedom Monument

The holiday celebration will close the Gabrovo-Kazanlak road to vehicles from 10 p.m. on 2.03 to 6 p.m. on 3.03. Participants, guests and citizens with cars will move one-way from Kazanlak to Mount Shipka and from Gabrovo to Mount Shipka from 6 a.m. on March 3 to 12:30 p.m. They will park in the right lane in order of boarding. After 12:30 p.m., the Shipka-Kazanlak road will be open for return.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the organization of the solemn celebration requires the introduction of certain restrictions on the movement of people in the area of the Freedom Monument. For which it will be necessary to comply with the orders of the law enforcement agencies. Prohibited are citizens from carrying pyrotechnics, firearms and dangerous objects. Only the media can use drones for holiday coverage.

Free buses will pick up from 7 to 9 a.m. on March 3 those wishing to join the festivities from the Kazanlak.
