XI Dixie Jazz Fest starts on July 11th in Veliko Tarnovo

For the eleventh year in a row, Veliko Tarnovo will host one of the most exciting events for music lovers – the XI edition of the Dixie Jazz Fest. It is organized by the Dixie Jazz Fest Foundation with the financial support of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo. The friendly hosts will be the classical jazzmen of the Royal Dixie Band in Tarnovo. The event is free for all residents and guests of the city.

Interesting information from North Central Bulgaria

Hello, everyone! Here is short monitoring about interesting news from North Central Bulgaria and specifically Veliko Tarnovo area.

This time of the year starts with many reconstructions works in city Veliko Tarnovo and region.Today starts the stepwise closing of the road to Arbanasi.  If you decide, to visit this traditional village at Veliko Tarnovo area, with many traditional houses, churches, monasteries and traditional restaurants, you will have to go through the village of Sheremetya. Other interesting news from this days, about Veliko Tarnovo, is, that there will be a new organization of tourist’s transportation. Buses of tourist’s companies will stop at tree parking zones, from where people will be transported, to the main sightseeing’s of Veliko Tarnovo.  In general, this will reduce air’s pollution and will make traffic much calmer. Un Beso Fiesta Festival for the 4th time in Veliko Tarnovo

1450712_1079461308761724_8867847991194615046_nLast night Un Beso Dance School in Veliko Tarnovo officially opened the 4th edition of the annual Un Beso Fiesta Festival. The festival continues until September, 11th. The venue this year is the scene of Artlyato near the Asenevtsi Monument and the Art Gallery.

The three school instructors Darina Georgieva, Vanya Petsurova and Iglika Ivanova are giving completely free tutorial every night from 8.30 pm. The first lesson yesterday was about bachata, today you can learn zumba, and tomorrow – salsa. After each lesson ends it’s time for party. During these parties the instructors from Un Beso will tell you more about the various styles of Latin dances and show the difference between them. Everyone will have the opportunity to experience the steps of merengue, zumba, bachata, Kizomba, zouk, salsa, mambo, pachanga, Cuban salsa and cha-cha-cha.

The last day of the festival starts at 10 am with a party called Sunday Awakening. Various activities both for children and adults are provided for that day. Kids can try Latin dancing, yoga and capoeira and party with entertainers from Un Beso. Adults will have fun with lessons in tae bo, typical Bulgarian dances, step aerobics, yoga and fitball. All activities will be held at the grounds around the Art Gallery finishing around noon.

Entrance is free for all days and for all events.

Moto Rock Fest Veliko Tarnovo 7th – 9th July 2016

Moto Rock Fests Veliko Tarnovo marks its 10 anniversary edition this year. More than 2000 bikers from Bulgaria and 9 more countries will gather for the event; it will take place from 7th till 9th  July. Rock fans from Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Holland, Norway, Germany and Austria will join this year’s fest. The rock fest is being organized by Old Bustards MC and Hell’s Angels MC. The venue is the same as last year – by Asenevtsi Monument. Beer and BBQ stalls will be also set up.

As usual there will be a stage which will host a number of performers, including the popular Bulgarian stars Milena, Kolyo from Obraten effect, Erol from Wikeda, Petsata from Control united in the new super band Petsa’s Show; they will hit the stage on the 7th (Thursday). The guest star on Friday (8th July) will be Svetlyo Vitkov and his group The Legends. The Serbian band Ayvar Mleven will stage an Iron Maiden Tribute and the Bulgarian Hammerhead will have a Metallica Tribute performance.

During the 4 days you can see an Erotic Show, Best Bike Design Contest, Stunt Riding Show and the Sound and Light Show at Tsarevets Fortress. Also rockers will have a parade through Veliko Tarnovo and will lay flowers at Mother Bulgaria Monument. A torch march ending at Tsarevets Fortress will be held too and 1000 of Chinese lanterns will be released in the sky commemorating bikers who perished in accidents.

The official opening of the fest is on July, 8th from 8 pm by the Veliko Tarnovo Mayor Daniel Panov. The organizers of the event are calling for everyone to be more tolerant and pay more attention on the road.

The first design for a covered bridge over the Yantra revealed

The first design for a covered bridge spanning over the Yantra River is now ready and was approved at a meeting held by the Yantra Bridge – Asenevtsi Initiative Committee. The ambitious undertaking was announced last year and it quickly captured the public attention. The author of the idea, Martin Pavlov, said that he was convinced the project would be implemented by the end of 2020. The author of the first design is Suzana Pencheva, a student in Veliko Tarnovo University Faculty of Art. Continue Reading
