Local Bands to Shine at this rock festival Veliko Tarnovo
The 16th edition of Mindya Rock Fest will highlight local talent from the Veliko Tarnovo region, making it a true celebration of homegrown music. The festival’s lineup features BARKS, a band led by Deputy Mayor Neiko Genchev, along with the energetic youth from Error 404. Cold Shot Trio, hailing from Upper Oryahov, and the popular band The Drivers will also take the stage. In addition to these local favorites, the festival will feature performances by Vasko Krpkata, a Bulgarian rock icon, and the Greek band Sakis Dovolis Trio. Regulars like the “Magistri” group, who have played every year at Mindya Rock Fest, will once again captivate the audience, followed by the Plovdiv-based Atoluka Blues Cartel, who are known for their dynamic blues-rock performances.
Supporting a Local Cause at festival Veliko Tarnovo
In keeping with its community spirit, Mindya Rock Fest is also supporting a noble cause. A special souvenir stand and donation urn will be set up to collect funds for the Gorno-Oryakhov Foundation “9 Lives,” which helps homeless animals in the Veliko Tarnovo region. This foundation aims to provide shelter, care, and socialization for street, homeless, and abused cats, offering them a second chance at a better life. Festivalgoers will have the opportunity to contribute to this important cause, helping animals in need while enjoying great music. This initiative reflects the festival’s commitment to both entertainment and making a positive difference in the local community.
Enhanced Comfort and Amenities for Festival Visitors
For those planning to immerse themselves in the full festival experience, this year’s Mindya Rock Fest offers improved amenities to ensure visitors’ comfort. Two designated tent camps and a dedicated area for caravans will be available, allowing attendees to stay on-site for the entire weekend. Co-organizer Stanimir Gabrovski has announced that unlike previous years, washrooms will be provided for campers, making the festival experience more enjoyable. To complete the festival vibe, visitors can indulge in delicious hot kebabs and refreshing cold beer, all while enjoying top-notch performances from Friday through Saturday. Organizers are expecting a large turnout with guests in high spirits, ready to celebrate the vibrant music scene of Festival Veliko Tarnovo.
Mindya Rock Fest: A Tribute to the Hippie Spirit
Mindya Rock Fest has always been more than just a music event. According to organizer Prof. Evgeniy Dainov, the festival aims to recreate the free-spirited, countercultural vibe of the 1960s and 70s hippie movement. This year, the festival will return to its roots, focusing on local bands and talent from outside the capital city of Sofia. What started in 2009 with a modest budget of BGN 2,000, provided by two English settlers in Mindya, has since grown into a beloved event that has hosted bands from countries like Turkey, Serbia, and Belarus. Over the years, the festival has inspired many other concerts and festivals across Bulgaria. Mindya Rock Fest has even seen its attendees grow up and form their own bands, like Smokey Mountain River, continuing the legacy of rock music in the region.
