Stage of the Ages
Madame Butterfly, Giselle, Zorba the Greek, Gianni Schicchi and Cavalleria rusticana (Rustic Chivalry) are the five operas we are going to see this year during the summer opera festival Stage of the Ages which will be held at Tsarevets Fortress. The largest festival in Veliko Tarnovo will take place from 2nd till 10th August.
Stage of the Ages
Puccini’s Madame Butterfly will open the show; it will be performed on 2nd and 3rd August from 9 pm. On 5th August opera fans will be able to see Adolf Adam’s Giselle. Admirers of fine ballet art can savour Zorba the Greek by Mikis Theodorakis on 6th August. On 9th and 10th are the presentations of Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana and Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.
The setting
All of the opera shows start at 9 pm. Tickets will be available from mid-June onwards. The festival is organized by Veliko Tarnovo Municipality and Municipal Tourism Agency Tsarevgrad Tarnov with the collaboration of Sofia opera and ballet.
