The Fourth Summer Season of “The Stage of the Ages” 2019, which was awarded the prestigious label “Europe for the festivals. Festivals for Europe“2019-2020 will be held from 13th July to 4th October in Veliko Tarnovo. There are 7 titles in this year’s music event including ballet, opera and symphonic concert.
The festival is now with international participation and will start on July 13th with the visit of the Imperial Russian Ballet, which will present one of the greatest ballet titles – “Swan Lake” by Tchaikovsky. On the open stage in the Tsarevets fortress there will be two of the opera masterpieces by Giacomo Puccini – Turandot, performed by the Burgas Opera on July 26th and La Boheme on August 2nd, performed by the State Opera Rousse. Verdi’s title “Simon Boccanegra” will be played on the 10th August by the Theater and Music Production Center – Varna.
Konstantin Kisimov Musical and Drama Theater will present at the festival the latest title of their repertoire – the opera “The Violet of Montmartre” by Imre Kalman on July 26th. The historic fortress will be filled with Bulgarian classical music during the symphonic concert of the Rousse Philharmonic on August 30, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Pancho Vladigerov. The “Stage of the Ages” will end with an opera in the circus – “Pagliacci” by Ruggero Leoncavallo. The production is by the Stara Zagora State Opera and Balkanski Academic Circus. It will be on Oct. 3 at the Kolio Ficheto Circus playground.
The Summer Festival “Stage of the Ages” is a unique music festival for opera and ballet, held outdoors in the famous Tsarevets fortress. The festival is organized by the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo and the Municipal Tourism Agency “Tsarevgrad Tarnovo”, supported by Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism and the Ministry of Culture. It is one of the iconic cultural events in the Old Capital Veliko Tarnovo.
