At the beginning of June another food festival will take place in Veliko Tarnovo district. The XII Fest of the Gorna Oryahovitsa Sudzhuk will take place from 8th to 10th June.
The programme of the fest will be fulfilled with a lot of music, culinary demonstrations, games, entertainment and surprises. It is organized by the Association of Meat Processors in Bulgaria with the financial support of the Ministry of agriculture, food and forests and the State Fund “Agriculture” and with the active participation of Gorna Oryahovitsa municipality. The companies “RA 03 Bobby”, “Rhodope – 96” and “Stefanov – Ivan Stefanov” the only few that are authorized to produce Gornooryahovski Sudzhuk will participate at the celebrations.
Each year the festival gathers more and more admirers of the local delicacy not only from the Veliko Tarnovo district but also from across the country. Gornooryahovski Sudzhuk is the first Bulgarian product registered in the European register of protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications. In the Historical Museum of the town is the only Bulgarian exposition of the”Gornooryahovski Sudzhuk”, which tells the story of this delicacy – a trademark of the town. It tracks the development of sudzhuk production from the very beginning to the present day.
Agriculture Minister Porozhanov is expected for the official opening, which is on the 9th of June at 11.00 am in the Town Garden Park. The program of the festival will start a day earlier with a regional review of the old town song “Bozhuri”, folklore club “Balkanika”, a concert of Elit folk orchestra and the Dinevi sisters. On 9 June, after the official opening, the festive program will continue with amateur folklore groups, culinary games and fun quizzes. At the evening is the concert of Paskalev-Plovdiv and Polly Paskova’s ensemble and the ensemble “Chinari”. On June 10 the festival continues with more concerts, the culmination of the day is the concert of Kichka Bodurova.
