The renovation of the cultural complex Poltava in Veliko Tarnovo is now starting. According to the owner of the building, the renovation will continue until February 2020.
The complex will have large underground parking on three levels, formed on the eastern side of the building with approaches from Hadji Dimitar Str. It is planned for nearly 100 vehicles and this capacity will be sufficient to solve the problem of parking in the central city area. There will also be a cinema with 4 modern saloons, which will be the latest achievement of visual and sound technologies. A leading food chain will also have its own hypermarket here. According to the owner, the renovation should be completed by the end of this year or in the first few months of the following year.
At present, the building has an area of nearly 8000 sqm., but with the renovation and expansion, it will become a spacious shopping centre with a huge underground parking that will cover almost 15000sqm. The project is designed in such a way that it will not ruin any of the characteristics of the building nor have the height ruin the amphitheatrical layout.
The Poltava cinema was built in 1974 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the 9 September victory and since then nothing has been touched. There is a great chance that the saloon, which the inhabitants and guests of Veliko Tarnovo connect with wonderful memories, will be reborn. Three major food chains have expressed interest in having their sites here and negotiations are currently being held. The upcoming renovation also includes an expansion of the Vogue café, as well as the cult restaurant “Shtastlivetsa” to which several VIP halls will be added.
