For a month, residents and guests of Veliko Tarnovo will be able to enjoy the movie marathon “Summer Cinema Under the Stars”. Outdoor screenings will be played every night from August 17 until September 15 at the Summer Theatre in Marno Pole Park. A huge screen will be installed at the Summer Theatre and modern technologies will be used to broadcast the films, guaranteeing the highest quality just like in a movie theatre.
The third national rock festival – Hotalich, will take over the fortress in late August. After being named “the new rock capital of Bulgaria”, the organizers of the national rock festival “Hotalich” in Sevlievo near Veliko Tarnovo are striving to surpass the high bar they have set themselves. The festival is one of the most significant events for the municipality and is already present in the Cultural Calendar for the year. In addition to favourite Bulgarian bands, there is also a solid international presence in the festival.
Veliko Tarnovo will once again host the International Folklore Festival. On July, the 22nd edition of the Festival will officially begin. This year, the festival will be attended by nine countries. The spectators in the Summer Theater of the old capital will once again be overwhelmed by hot rhythms and exotic dances from foreign countries.
The festival is traditionally held in the Nicopolis ad Istrum Archaeological Reserve near Veliko Tarnovo. It is the only one of its kind, dedicated to the late Antiquity, and has been held on the territory of Veliko Tarnovo for three consecutive years. This year the festival will be on July 13, Saturday at 10.00 am.
