Sturgeon is one of the endangered species
Wondering where to spend the afternoon? If you are, you can visit the WWF Living Danube Tour event which will be held in Veliko Tarnovo. Today, from 2 pm till 8 pm at Marno Pole Park, residents and guest of the town will see some of the most endangered fish species living in the Danube River. People will also learn about river inhabitants, how to keep rivers clean and what destroys their balance, putting different species at risk. Visitors will hear how to stop depleting water resources and reduce climate change. During the tour children will get acquainted with various fish species living in the Danube and its tributaries, the challenges they face every day (pollution, overfishing) and what everyone can do to help the river inhabitants survive. Kids will also participate in variety of interactive games.
The old capital is just one of the stops of Living Danube Tour in Bulgaria which aims to promote a regional movement for wetland conservation and restoration. The tour is part of the bigger scheme LIFE+ Free Fish.
