The tenth-anniversary edition of the Arbanassi Summer Music Festival of Classical Chamber Music will take place from July 21 to 28, 2019 near Veliko Tarnovo. The festival week includes four concerts in the churches-museums “St. Georgi “(21 and 28 July) and” St. Archangels Michael and Gabriel “(23 and 25 July) in Arbanassi. The concerts will start at 19.30.
The host and organizer of the festival is the Regional Historical Museum – Veliko Tarnovo, together with the non-governmental organization Arbanassi Summer Music (Belgium) and Veliko Tarnovo Municipality. The founders of the festival are Julita Fuseva and Dimitri Mesttag, they are also the artistic directors of the festival. The festival is a bearer of the prestigious label “Europe at the festivals, festivals of Europe” for 2019-2020. You can see the program of the festival on their official web page. The village of Arbanassi is situated at just 4 km from Veliko Tarnovo. It is perched on a high plateau and oversees the Trapezitsa and Tsarevets hills. This is without a doubt one of the most picturesque villages in the country with a unique cultural-historical heritage. Arbanassi has been declared an architectural site and has been included in the UNESCO list for world cultural heritage. It is interesting that the village existed during the Second Bulgarian State (1185 – 1393). Arbanassi has 5 churches and 2 monasteries built at the end of the 16th and in the beginning of the 17th century.
The village is an architectural and museum reserve and is even included in the hundred national tourist sites. Arbanassi offers various possibilities for accommodation and entertainment – you can stay in guest houses furnished in Renaissance style, in modern hotels and large hotel complexes and villas in the vicinity. The restaurants and inns will offer you typical Bulgarian cuisine and a variety of specialities from the region.
