The emergency epidemic situation in the country will be extended to August 31st. This was announced during a briefing at which new socio-economic measures in the fight against COVID-19 and the crisis were introduced by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
The extension will be done by order of the Minister of Health. It will have to be issued by the new Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov, who replaced Kiril Ananiev after the cabinet reshuffle. As early as the beginning of the month (July 6), it became clear that the emergency epidemic would be extended until the end of July. However, a few days ago, the Chief State Health Inspector Angel Kunchev announced that he would propose a new extension because of the increasing number of infected.
For the past 24 hours, 115 people were newly diagnosed with COVID-19 in Bulgaria. The PCR tests performed are 3502 as shown by the National Information System. The distribution by districts is as follows: Blagoevgrad – 20; Burgas – 5; Varna – 13; Gabrovo – 8; Dobrich – 4; Kardzhali – 1; Kyustendil – 1; Pazardzhik – 4; Pernik – 1; Plovdiv – 23; Ruse – 2; Smolyan – 2; Sofia region – 4; Sofia city – 23; Stara Zagora – 1; Haskovo – 1; Shumen – 2.

At present, 10,427 cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Bulgaria with 4732 of them active. A total of 5355 people were cured and 49 of which just during the past 24 hours. 682 patients with proven coronavirus infection were admitted to hospitals with 34 of them in intensive care. The death toll of the disease is 340 people with just 2 cases from the past 24 hours.
According to data by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, since 31 December 2019 and as of 27 July 2020, 16 249 165 cases of COVID-19 have been reported, including 649 208 deaths. As of 27 July 2020, 1 675 022 cases have been reported in the EU/EEA and the UK with 181 626 deaths.
