The Art Gallery “Boris Denev” in Veliko Tarnovo will be transformed into a modern art centre. The emblematic building, located in Boruna, also known as park Asenevtsi, will be included in new tourist routes, uniting sights in Bulgaria and Romania. The grant contract was signed last week by the Mayor of the Old Capital, Daniel Panov, at the Secretariat of the Cross-Border Program, based in Calarasi, Romania.
The project “Art and Culture – Common Cross-Border Assets to Support the Sustainable Development of Tourism” will be implemented in partnership with the Municipality of Calafat, Dolj County, Romania and Pleven Foundation for Art and Culture. The total duration is 36 months from the signing of the financing contract. The total value of the investment intention is EUR 1 487 271 for all partners and the budget of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo amounting to EUR 749 957 and will serve for the realization of all pledged activities.
In the Boris Denev Art Gallery measures for energy efficiency will be introduced. The Marinku Palace Museum in Calafat will also be upgraded. Turning the two cultural centres into modern art centres will encourage tourist interest in them. A new tourist product will also be created with thematic routes for visitors on both sides of the Danube and Central Bulgaria, including five general tourist services. A new catalogue of cultural heritage will be developed as well.
