Veliko Tarnovo transport – BDZ restores the fast train Gorna Oryahovitsa – Kazanlak – Plovdiv

FINALLY! A train connects Northern and Southern Bulgaria!

From 12.02.2014 BDZ restores the direct fast train from Gorna Oryahovitsa to Plovdiv via Veliko Tarnovo. It also connects Dryanovo, Tryavna, Kazanlak, Karlovo and Banya, with convenient connections to and from Gabrovo and Hisar.

The two trains were canceled in the summer of 2023. After the repair work at the Plovdiv railway junction forced the suspension of train traffic between Plovdiv and Filipovo station. Since the deadline for launching the section has been postponed several times and there is still no traffic on it, trains No. 4631 and No. 4632 will run to and from Filipovo station, located in the northern part of Plovdiv.

Things to do in Veliko Tarnovo this summer – new attraction tourist train

The attraction starts on July 1 and will offer panoramic tours of the old part of Veliko Tarnovo town

The tourist train will again travel by the Tsarevets and Trapezitsa fortresses, the Vladishki bridge, and the churches in Asenova Mahala. After a four-year hiatus, together with the Tsarevgrad Tarnov Municipal Tourist Agency, the Municipality is resuming the attraction tours from July 1. And as a gesture to all residents and guests of Veliko Tarnovo, on July 1 to 9, the train will be free.

Veliko Tarnovo will host the royal train of Prince Ferdinand after 110 years

After 110 years, Prince Ferdinand arrives again with the royal train at the Trapezitsa station in Veliko Tarnovo. The Bulgarian ruler together with the Prime Minister Alexander Malinov and the officials will be greeted by the Mayor. The Manifesto for declaring the independence of Bulgaria will be read there. Then Prince Ferdinand will be declared a Bulgarian king.
