Ksilifor, near Veliko Tarnovo, springs to life with magical sculptures

13723985_1083945528332543_4813052188440642782_oStudents from Veliko Tarnovo University and the National Academy of Arts have turned the park at Ksilifor near Veliko Tarnovo in a magical forest. Dozens of sculptures made of wood, stone and metal now adorn and enliven the area. Ksilifor is located just 3 km away from VT and is a favourite place for day outs, hiking, sports and entertainment. Some of the enchanting items you will find there are a fabulous library, a tree with a golden apple, a magic carpet, a swing in the form of a dragon, Baba Yaga’s House (Baba Yaga is a witch who flies around in a mortar or on a broom and wields a pestle, and dwells deep in the forest in a hut usually described as standing on chicken legs (or sometimes a single chicken leg) and Flintstone’s car. 13731022_1083945624999200_2651244265616003116_oA flock of ducks keep them company and a few turtles calmly swim in the small lake in the park and occasionally go out ashore.

The Park Sculpture and Functionality Student Workshop was first held in 2011.

Dog Show in Svishtov on July, 30th

Attractive event for dog-owners and dog-lovers will be held on 30 July in the Monuments Area in Svishtov. The dog exhibition will have competitive character and will feature 3 categories. The first will be for small dogs weighing up to 10 kg, the second category will cover pooches from 10 to 20 kg, while the third will be for barking pets above 20 kg.  Each category will have prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place; they are provided by sponsors, owners of pet stores, veterinary clinics and a leading brand in the manufacturing of veterinary medicines. Dogs will be evaluated by a competent jury based on their appearance and special abilities. There will also be an audience award given for the best liked animal.

An important condition to enrol your dogs for participation is for them to have passports with vaccination records. These documents have to be presented on the day of the competition.

Tvarditsa – Elena Rally 2016 starts this Satuday

The 12th edition of the Tvarditsa – Elena Rally 2016 is to be held on 15th, 16th and 17th July. It is part of the national rally championship organized by the Bulgarian Automobile Sport Federation. The total length of this stage is 295 km; 130 km of them are competitive and will be divided into 11 legs.

The official opening is on 15th July from 9 pm in Tvarditsa town square.

Veliko Tarnovo – Arbanasi road closed till the end of August

The planned reconstruction of the Veliko Tarnovo – Arbanasi road starts today (12.07.2016). Recently heavy boulders and mud from the slopes along the road collapsed onto 2 cars prompting authorities to take actions to secure the lot. Road signs will indicate the detour route.

People travelling from VT through Arbanasi to Gorna Oryahovitsa and vice versa should take the road passing through Sheremetya.  Closed for the entire time will be the lot from the water tap at the chine all the way to the fork at Mavrikov Factory. The road is said to be open on the way to the fork at Mavrikov Factory. The road is said to be open on September, 1st.

19th International Folklore Festival Veliko Tarnovo

This summer Veliko Tarnovo will turn into the world capital of folklore for the 19th time.  The International Folklore Festival Veliko Tarnovo is an event which has become inseparable part of the cultural programme of the town. This is a real, long anticipated feast for both citizens and guests of the old capital of Bulgaria. Dancers, musicians and singers from all over the world (Bulgaria, Belgium, Brazil, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Mexico, USA and Chile) will bring good mood into our summer days in a way most enchanting and unique. Due to its perfect organization, exotic participants and the positive charge and emotions it brings, the festival is considered one of the most popular events in the world of folklore. The festive week will last from July, 16th till July, 23rd. Many more events will be hosted during the week – Miss Festival Contest, a traditional cuisine night, a photo exposition, etc. Both participant and audience will be sure to have a great time. All events are free of charge. Prepare for a sizzling summer full of fun!
