A medieval camp at the Trapezitsa fortress will mark the beginning of the active summer tourist season in Veliko Tarnovo. The historical reconstructions will take place on May 22nd from 10:00 to 18:00 at the second fortress of medieval Tarnovgrad. They will include reconstructions of everyday life, crafts, military skills and more from the XII-XIV centuries. Visitors will be able to get acquainted with glorious moments of the Bulgarian history in an authentic environment, according to the organizers.

Opera under the summer sky – “Stage of the Ages” at the Tsarevets Fortress
From July 3rd to September 10th, 2021 the most emblematic cultural event of Veliko Tarnovo – the summer opera festival “Stage of the Ages” will take place. Titles of operas from Stara Zagora, Varna, Sofia, Ruse, Vratsa, Plovdiv and the Konstantin Kisimov Music and Drama Theater – Veliko Tarnovo will be presented on an open stage in the Palace of the Bulgarian Kings – the Tsarevets Fortress.
Off-road safari with buggies, ATVs and Jeeps on the hills of Arbanasi is the newest local attraction
A fun, unusual for the region and very addictive adventure on the hills of Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanasi is offered by Damyan Stefanov. The young man organises off-road safaris on different routes. But rest assured that all of them take tourists to breathtaking views of the old Bulgarian capital and Arbanasi.
The only zoo in the area, located in Pavlikeni, renewed its licence to work for another 5 years. The place enjoys great interest and in order to continue this positive trend, they have increased their fauna with new inhabitants. The variety of animals is now complemented by albino kangaroos, ostriches, emu and jackals. Besides them, monkeys, deer, bears, foxes, cute Vietnamese piglets, and many more can be seen in the zoo.
