Britos Brewery is celebrating its third birthday with Britos Summer Fest

britosOn 5th, 6th and 7th June Veliko Tarnovo will mark the third birthday of Britos Brewery with a large fest. A variety of interesting events will be organized during the three days with the venues being Asenevtsi Monument, Druzhba Park and Ivaylo Town Stadium. The organizers of the Summer Fest are hoping that over the years it will establish itself as traditional for Veliko Tarnovo and it will be celebrated every year at the beginning of June.

The 3-day festive programme includes a number of games and competitions, streetball and volleyball tournaments, beach tennis, dance lessons and lots more (Saturday and Sunday, Druzhba Park, between 11 am and 6 pm) . Continue Reading

Demonstration of archery techniques, book reading and an array of workshops to participate in are only part of the events which will take place this Saturday in Veliko Tarnovo. Boruna Park, near Asenevtsi Monument in Veliko Tarnovo, will host the Big Hammock Swinging Party on 30th May, from 10 o’clock. As you might have guessed a hammock garden will be set up where everyone can swing and relax for as long as they want. WWF Shows Endangered Fish Species in Veliko Tarnovo

Sturgeon is one of the endangered species

Wondering where to spend the afternoon? If you are, you can visit the WWF Living Danube Tour event which will be held in Veliko Tarnovo. Today, from 2 pm till 8 pm at Marno Pole Park, residents and guest of the town will see some of the most endangered fish species living in the Danube River. People will also learn about river inhabitants, how to keep rivers clean and what destroys their balance, putting different species at risk. Visitors will hear how to stop depleting water resources and reduce climate change. During the tour children will get acquainted with various fish species living in the Danube and its tributaries, the challenges they face every day (pollution, overfishing) and what everyone can do to help the river inhabitants survive. Kids will also participate in variety of interactive games.

The old capital is just one of the stops of Living Danube Tour in Bulgaria which aims to promote a regional movement for wetland conservation and restoration. The tour is part of the bigger scheme LIFE+ Free Fish.

Night of the Museums for the 11th time in Veliko Tarnovo

The Holy Forty Martyrs Church

The Regional History Museum in Veliko Tarnovo is taking part and organizing The Night of Museums and Galleries initiative for 11th year in a row. This year the event will take place on 15th May, Friday, the venue being the Middle Ages churches located at the foot of Tsarevets Fortress; this year’s edition will be dedicated to the 830th anniversary of the Uprising of the Asen and Petar.

The Church of Saints Petar and Paul will be open for free visits from 5 pm till 1 am; guides on the site will be telling about the history of the church to everyone. The Church of St Demetrius of Thessaloniki and The Holy Forty Martyrs Church and the Great Lavra Monastery will be available from 7.30 pm onwards; entrance is again free. Continue Reading
