One of the most “delicious” festivals in Bulgaria is going to take place this weekend in the small mountainous town Elena Veliko Tarnovo. The so-called Elenski But feast has become extremely popular and is now being organized for a sixth consecutive year. The event attracts more and more people each year and it is now among the top-rated happenings of its kind.

The picturesque village of Mindya is less than 30 minutes away from the old capital Veliko Tarnovo. Mindya Rock Fest is the most popular FREE Rock and Blues Fest in Bulgaria, also called “The Bulgarian Woodstock“. The event is taking place on the last Friday and Saturday of the month – 25th and 26th of August. This will be the ninth annual edition since 2009. It is organized by the notable political commentator Evgeni Daynov who owns a house in the village.
The festival is offering a selection of great quality music, arts, crafts, food and other entertainments you will definitely enjoy! The sponsors have thought of everything, including camping areas for the all the guests with tents and caravans. Everything is spot on!
The Watermelon Festival in Nikyup, Veliko Tarnovo
The village of Nikyup is famous with its tastiest watermelons in the region, so you should go and find out the truth. 🙂 This will be the sixth annual fest in the attractive village. The event will take place on 5th of August (Saturday) from 6:30 pm and it will last after midnight. People from all over the world will be attending to this delicious fiesta.
Pavlikeni is organizing its Egg Feast for the fourth time on April, 29th. The celebrations start at 11 am in the Kiril Rakarov Town Park and are going to last 11 hours. Sponsor and co-organizer of the fest will be the local Haypro Egg Factory which will provide 4000 eggs for the day. Cooking contest, concert, competitions and many attractions will be featured in the feast. An egg-shaped photo corner will also be available.
Everyone will be presented with the opportunity to taste the delicious omelettes prepared on the spot. This year they will be 1001! Also many egg-related crafts will be demonstrated and there will be many stalls with souvenirs, sweet treats and flowers. A specially designated area will show traditions typical for the villages in the area.
A key point in the day will be the cooking competition where everyone can show their skills in preparing appetizers, dishes and desserts from eggs. The jury will be headed by the renowned cook Ivan Zvezdev. All the prizes will be egg-shaped.
A large stage will also be set up; throughout the day it will hosts the performances of many artists, musicians and bands.

The 8th edition of Trabant Motor Show will take place on March, 18th in Veliko Tarnovo. The local Trabant Fan Club is expecting more than 80 East German cars from Bulgaria, Romania, Germany and Russia to participate in the expo.
The trabis, as some call them endearingly, will be on display at the parking lot between the Army Club Building and Marno Pole Park from 10 am till 11 am. From 11 till 12 am they will be in front of the Municipality. At 12 they will parade along the streets of Veliko Tarnovo on their way towards the parking in front of Praktiker. There Trabant owners will show off their expert driving skills. There will be prizes for best preserved vehicle and also for best car tuning.
This famous car was produced in the German Democratic Republic between the years 1957-1991 at a factory in Zwickau, during which period more than 3 million vehicles have been constructed.
