Milena Slavova and Vasko Krupkata with his famous band “Poduene Blues Band” will play at the 10th Mindya Rock Fest near Veliko Tarnovo. This year the festival will take place on 24th and 25th of August.

Veliko Tarnovo will host the royal train of Prince Ferdinand after 110 years
After 110 years, Prince Ferdinand arrives again with the royal train at the Trapezitsa station in Veliko Tarnovo. The Bulgarian ruler together with the Prime Minister Alexander Malinov and the officials will be greeted by the Mayor. The Manifesto for declaring the independence of Bulgaria will be read there. Then Prince Ferdinand will be declared a Bulgarian king.
There will be a Banitsa fest in Karantsi, a village in the Veliko Tarnovo district on 11th of August.
The banitsa is a traditional Bulgarian bakery, which consists of rolled up or layered sheets of loose dough with stuffing between them. Various fillings are used – most often cheese or cottage cheese, with or without added eggs. The dish can also be made with vegetables, meat, fruits and so on. It is usually baked in an oven.
Watermelon Festival near Veliko Tarnovo– eating contest, body art, bowling and more
The 7th emblematic for the summer season – Watermelon Festival, which is traditionally held in the village of Nikyup near Veliko Tarnovo, is coming. The Watermelon Festival will take place on August 4.
Every year guests from all over the country come here. The festival is accompanied by a lot of music and dancing people. Every year, guests have the opportunity to enjoy an exhibition of local and visiting watermelon producers, a procession with watermelon lanterns, carving demonstrations and so on. The organizers also plan to have a watermelon eating contest and many other surprises. Besides the carving demonstrations, there will be also body art painting and many games. Some of the games include rolling watermelons, guessing their weight and colour and bowling with watermelons. The village of Nikyup is known for growing high-quality local watermelons – sweet and with a thin peel.
