Free books in exchange for your plastic waste

The third edition of the Free Books for Your Plastic Waste Campaign is going to be held in Veliko Tarnovo this year. Sofia and Plovdiv already saw the event happening with huge success – more than 7 tonnes of waste was collected and more than 4200 books given away. The campaign will take place on 23rd May, Saturday, from 10 am onwards; the venue will be Mall Veliko Tarnovo.

All you need to do is hand in 1 kg of plastic waste and in return you will receive a voucher for a free book. If you bring 2 kg of plastic you will get 2 vouchers. A third voucher will be not given no matter of the quantity of the rubbish you have. All the plastic waste will be safely disposed of and recycled by the largest packaging recovery organization in Bulgaria – Ecopack.

The Fourth Sheep Breeders’ Fair to take place near Arbanasi

340 exhibitors are expected to present the finest of their animals, farming machinery and crafts at the coming Fourth Sheep Breeders’ Fair. It will take place at the Petropavlovski monastery, near Arbanasi from 8th to 10th May. The fair is one of its kind in Europe and is expected to attract participators from more than 13 countries. Organizers are promising lots of events and good mood during the three days. Two stages will be set up; they will host a number of concerts and events. Second egg fete in pavlikeni

Cooking contest, concert, competitions as well as souvenir stalls and many attractions will be featured in the coming Egg Feast which is being organized by Pavlikeni Municipality for a second year in a row. The one of its kind fête drew a lot of attention last year and is promising to be just as successful this year. It will be held on May, 1^st with events starting from 10.00 am. Co-organizer of the fest will be the local Haipro egg factory which will provide more than 3600 eggs for the day.

The feast will last more than 12 hours and it will be held under the slogan One egg – many ways. According to Pavlikeni’s Mayor, Emanuil Manolov, last year the event gathered more than 3000 people in the town’s square. This year he’s promising even more fun, contests and of course prizes.

Veliko Tarnovo area is currently proving to be the hottest destination in Bulgaria for buying a new property. The data was released by real estate agencies based in the town and is based on market trends for the first trimester of the year.

The data also shows that there is a growing demand for homes built or redone with high-quality materials and offering impeccable living conditions; they are generally wanted for permanent residence but also for weekend retreats from the hustle and bustle of big cities. Their close proximity to Veliko Tarnovo would also mean that all the convenience and variety of a town nearby with all the shopping and all the options for entertainment and indulgence you could crave area available just a stone’s throw away.

Attractive, ready to move in houses are highly sought after with deals completing between 40,000 and 60,000 euro. Interest is both from Bulgarians and foreigners, mostly British nationals. Russians are also a factor on the real estate market and their numbers are slowly increasing.

It was also pointed out that there is high interest in cheap houses for renovation too. The average agreed selling price for countryside properties in Veliko Tarnovo area is 41 750 euro which is three times the national levels. The housing market in the area is stable, marking a slight but steady increase.

Veliko Tarnovo – the most beautiful town built on sheer slopes

We have long known that Veliko Tarnovo is probably amongst the most unique towns all over the world and now it was officially confirmed. Veliko Tarnovo topped a chart for the most beautiful towns ever built on sheer slopes which was recently published in the Italian newspaper La Repubblica. The magnitude of this first place is proven by the towns left behind by the old Bulgarian capital – Meteora and Santorini (Greece), Ronda (Spain), Rocamadour (France), Riomaggiore, Vernazza and Civita di Bagnoregio (Italy), Piodao (Portugal), Wadi Dawan (Yemen) are a few to name among others.

The paper calls the selected locations jewels of architecture and pieces of treasure. It also notes how hard it must have been for the towns to be built and points the constant drive of humanity to conquer Nature. The Italians also state that Veliko Tarnovo, along with the rest of the towns, is even more picturesque when seen in person and its charm stays vividly in one’s mind long after the encounter.
