The increased property seeking trend that has been felt on the Bulgarian real estate market will continue throughout the year. The prognosis was expressed by a leading real estate agency. The report it issued notes that property prices in the begininng of 2014 are considered to be at their most affordable rate for the last 10 years. Financial institutions are now offering better terms for their mortgage loans and are also prone to renegotiate the clauses of already existing ones; thus contributing to the property market revival.

Children up to 15 years old can participate in the “I’m in a magical town” Drawing Competition. The reason behind this competition is the celebration of the Official Day of Veliko Tarnovo – 22 March. The contest is taking place for third year in a row. It is organized by the Municipal Children’s Complex with the collaboration of Veliko Tarnovo Municipality and is held under the patronage of the mayor Daniel Panov. The young artists will be divided in four groups according to their age – preschool, 1 – 4 form, 5 – 8 form and children with special educational needs. A jury will select the best paintings. The judges will take into consideration the compositions of the pictures, their originality, the technical execution, space organization, materials used and the degree of imagination implied. The chosen art works will be awarded and shown at an exhibition at ‘Rafael Mihaylov’ Exhibition Halls.
The only Egyptian mummy in Bulgaria is to be shown in one of the exhibition halls of ‘Hadji Nikoli Inn’ in Veliko Tarnovo. The precious piece is property of Varna’s Archaeological Museum. The artefact on show is a woman’s head that dates back from 1st century B.C. It is thought to be the head of an unknown noble lady from Ancient Egypt.
Also for the first time the citizens and guests of Veliko Tarnovo will have the opportunity to see authentic clay and stone tablets with Аncient Egyptian hieroglyphs. The Archaeological museum from the town of Shumen contributed to the exhibition with an interesting Аncient Egyptian cult object – a boat with a boatman. In Ancient Egypt he sailed the souls of the dead into the Underworld. The interesting exposition is opening tonight. The reason behind it is the Professional day of archaeologists in Bulgaria, which is marked on 14th February.
For more than 30 years the head was stored in Varna’s Museum depository. It was last shown in front of public somewhere in the 1940s of last century. Couple of months ago it was restored. So far it was on display in museums in Shumen and Targovishte where the exhibitions achieved great success.
The ancient Egyptian artefact was bestowed on Varna’s Archaeological Museum by Karel Shkorpil in the beginning of the 20th century. He is considered the pioneer of Bulgarian archaeology and is also the founder and first curator of the museum itself.
The Multimedia Visitor Centre “Tsarevgrad Tarnov” in Veliko Tarnovo, also known as The Wax Museum, received the top prize for ‘Best entertainment complex’ of 2013 during the 23rd edition of the “Holiday & Spa Expo” International Tourist Fair in Sofia. The prize is awarded for eleventh time by ‘Tourism and Recreation’ magazine, which is a co-host of the event. The town will receive its award on the 14th February.
Veliko Tarnovo represents its bid to become a European Capital of Culture in 2019 on 42 sqm exhibition area. During the show Municipal Agency Tourism “Tsarevgrad Tarnov” will promote the opportunities it offers for year-round cultural, congress, religious and in town tourism.
A growth of 5% is expected in the price of newly-built properties
Bulgaria is amongst the four European countries which marked an increase in the number of property purchases. The data was revealed by a leading real estate agency that operates in 14 European countries. The figures the agency disclosed show a rise of 43% in the number of houses and apartments bought in Bulgaria’s major cities in 2013 compared to 2012.
