Every Saturday and Sunday, visitors of the “Mini Bulgaria” Park in Veliko Tarnovo will have the opportunity to immerse themselves into Bulgarian history. The Svishtov group for historical reenactments “DUKS Antika” will set up their own camp in the park to acquaint tourists with various crafts and techniques for military training from the Middle Ages.

The demonstrations can be attended every Saturday and Sunday in the miniature park “Mini Bulgaria” in Veliko Tarnovo. Besides seeing weapons and fighting techniques visitors can also dress up with clothing and weapons from the Middle Ages and take pictures of course. Visitors can also make their own clay or leather products and get them as souvenirs. What is more, the organizers say that they are also planning on doing one-day craft courses so people can make something with their own hands and learn a new skill.

The Mini Bulgaria Park of Miniatures is without a doubt one of the places you should definitely visit if you are coming to Veliko Tarnovo. This is the first park with models of historical and natural landmarks in Bulgaria. The park is located at the foot of Tsarevets Fortress and is open for visits every day. To be more specific the park is set in the area below the Balduin Tower at Tsarevets Fortress, called “Frenkhisar”. The miniatures are made of PVC and are in a scale of 1:25. They are exhibited outdoors throughout the year. What is great about this park is that it makes “travelling” across Bulgaria for an hour possible.

Why wont the Tourist Board in VT recognize the Importance of Nicopolis ad Istrum in the VT municipality. All of the things which are going on in the mini Bulgaria, could be going on in the Nicopolis in Nikyup. Bring tourists there. It is like the best kept secret in Bulgaria, and yet it’s of huge Importance. Very disappointing that nothing is placed in Nikyup. The Nike games were cancelled, this would be something which could have replaced the void this year.

Actually, the group that is doing the reenactments in the Mini Bulgaria park also did a few at Nicopolis ad Istrum. But from what I gathered they were more children orientated. I agree that the municipality isn’t doing anything much for Nikyup but the mayor is certainly trying. However, they did put up some benches and tables for picnic zones there which is nice.
