A unique concert will delight fans of classical music in Bulgaria this autumn. For the first time in Bulgaria, after its spectacular success in Germany, a project of this scale will be realized. The organizers ensure an exceptional experience for the audience in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Veliko Tarnovo. The “8 Grand Pianos Concert” is one of the closing events in the Plovdiv 2019 program. 8 pianos, 16 pianists and 32 hands will perform 4 concerts on the territory of Bulgaria – in Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, Sofia and Varna. The pianists come from different countries – Germany, Italy, Russia, Canada, Korea, Japan, Slovakia, the Philippines and Bulgaria of course.
The ideologist and creator of the “8 Grand Pianos Concerts” is Bulgarian Prof. Tomislav Baynov, who has built an impressive career in Germany and on the world music scene. For the fans of the classics, the conductor and musicians have prepared an exciting emotional journey with the compositions of Carl Orff, Gioachino Rossini, Carl Czerny, Richard Wagner, Darius Miel, George Gershwin and others.
The founder of the Concert of 8 Grand Pianos is the Bulgarian pianist Prof. Tomislav Baynov, who together with six other colleagues founded the Baynov piano ensemble in 1989. The main floor for their performances is Southern Germany but very soon their popularity became international. Their TV appearances are especially attractive. Their repertoire covers both specially written works for four or more hands as well as arrangements of some of the most popular classical plays.
The piano ensemble “Baynov” has recorded several memorable programs: “Six Hands of a Piano”, “More Than 8 Pianos”, “Piano and Percussion”, “Live in Lucerne”, “Carl Czerny: Concert Quartets”. The ensemble’s specialities are six-handed pieces but on one piano, 11 or 12 hands on two pianos, plays for more than 8 pianos, even the unbelievable orchestra of 25 pianos.
The four concerts of the tour will take place in the autumn of 2019. In Veliko Tarnovo the event will take place in the Palace of Culture and Sports “Vasil Levski” on November 21st. In Plovdiv it will be on November 16th, in Sofia on November 18th and in Varna on November 23rd.
