The leading chain for sports goods Decathlon is opening a sports shop with a complex for demonstrations in Veliko Tarnovo. This will happen at the beginning of next week when a special ceremony is scheduled.
The sporting goods and equipment store is located in Veliko Tarnovo Commercial Park on Magistralna str. and covers an area of approximately 1500 square meters. The store is on the second floor of the complex, where until recently the furniture store Yavor was situated. Furthermore, the building was specifically redesigned and the parking was asphalted for the needs of the new chain.
The concept of the French brand is to offer a maximum variety of sports products at affordable prices in one place. Clothing, equipment, sports equipment and accessories for all kinds of sports can be found in all the company’s premises. Decathlon also has over 20 brands of its own, as well as its own development centre. Decathlon is a leader in the sports goods market with more than 1,000 stores opened in 30 countries worldwide. The first site of the chain was opened in Bulgaria in the summer of 2013 in Sofia. The company currently has two stores in Sofia and one in Varna, Plovdiv and Stara Zagora and now one in Veliko Tarnovo.
The history of the company dates back to the French city of Lille, where in 1976 Michel Leclercq opened his first store with the idea of collecting accessories for various sports at affordable prices at one place. Thus the name of the Decathlon brand – the Olympic discipline of decathlon – a combined event consisting of ten track and field events.
