Veliko Tarnovo among the towns with increasing population

Veliko Tarnovo is also one of the three towns in Bulgaria which reported positive internal migration growth and increasing population. The data was published after a research conducted by the National Statistics Institute and Eurostat and supported by the European Commission.

The study was conducted in 18 cities – Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Pleven, Ruse, Vidin, Stara Zagora, Sliven, Dobrich, Shumen, Pernik, Yambol, Haskovo, Pazardzhik, Blagoevgrad, Veliko Tarnovo and Vratsa.

Only in three of the areas the internal migration growth is positive – Sofia (5%), Veliko Tarnovo (1.35%) and Varna (0.48%).

The analysis also shows that the average age of the population in Veliko Tarnovo is among the lowest in the country. Blagoevgrad took the first position with an average age of the population being 39 years; the old capital ranks second with 39 years and eight months.

Veliko Tarnovo Population Statistics

The local newspaper of Borba published some data today which shows that the number of people living in Veliko Tarnovo, based on their permanent address registration, is 72,938. The second most populated town in the municipality is Debelets with its 4007 permanent residents. Kilifarevo is the home of 2446 people.

Resen apparently is the largest village; the population there is 1946. 1495 are the officially registered people living in Samovodene. The list continues with Ledenik – 872, Belyakovets – 793, Vodoley – 788, Prisovo – 773 and Pchelishte – 609. Arbanasi is the permanent place of abode to 299 people.
