The Tsarevets fortress in Veliko Tarnovo will become a natural decor for the 5th International Festival “Medieval Tarnovgrad”. From 28th to 30th June, the arts, crafts, military skills of Bulgaria, Byzantium and Europe of the XII-XIV century will come to life on the historic hill. Over 140 participants from Bulgaria, Italy, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine will take part in the spectacular re-enactments.
For the eleventh year in a row, Veliko Tarnovo will host one of the most exciting events for music lovers – the XI edition of the Dixie Jazz Fest. It is organized by the Dixie Jazz Fest Foundation with the financial support of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo. The friendly hosts will be the classical jazzmen of the Royal Dixie Band in Tarnovo. The event is free for all residents and guests of the city.
For the third consecutive time, Veliko Tarnovo received European recognition for two of the most popular cultural forums in Bulgaria and abroad. The “Stage of the Ages” Summer Opera Festival and the Arbanasi Summer Music International Classical Chamber Music Festival are awarded the European Festival for 2019 and 2020 marks. The festivals are approved by an international jury of the European Festival Association, supported by the European Commission and the European Parliament.
The beginning of the International Folklore Festival Veliko Tarnovo was held in 1998. Since its inception, the festival has the status of “Festival of CIOFF” (International Council of Organizers of Festivals for Folklore and Traditional Arts). It is one of 270 recognized by the CIOFF numerous festivals around the world. The status, the perfect organization, the attractive program and the exceptional response are the reason for the International Folklore Festival in Veliko Tarnovo to become one of the most prestigious events for Bulgaria and the world.
