Restaurants, cafes, malls and night clubs in Bulgaria will remain closed for now. This became clear during the briefing of the health authorities on Thursday. The only compromise that will be made by the country is regarding educational institutions.
The older students are about to return to the classrooms, and this is expected to apply to classes from 5th to 12th grade. Schools will welcome teenagers from February 4th, and learning will take place according to a certain mechanism – by alternating one week face-to-face learning and one week distance learning. The final decision will be made by January 31.
According to Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, the return of children to nurseries, kindergartens and in schools from 1st to 5th grade has not increased the number of infected people. This is indicative that if the epidemiological situation becomes more complicated in the future there will be no need to close kindergartens and suspend the actual education of the youngest students. If the trend of reduction of cases continues, it is expected that gyms will open sometime in February.
