The X Factor Bulgaria auditions are back on the road later this month and they start from Veliko Tarnovo! Contestants willing to show their talent are increasing with each year. The X factor auditioning crew will visit 5 towns this year in search of the best and freshest voice. If you ever thought about auditioning now is the time. On July 16th you will have the opportunity to show the jury what you’ve got at Yantra Grand Hotel between 9 am and 7 pm! You just need to apply on-line and register for Veliko Tarnovo. Show them that you have the X factor.

Stage of the Ages – Summer Opera Fest

Tomorrow is July 1st and summer is in full swing here in Bulgaria.  Lots of events and in particular the summer opera festival in Veliko Tarnovo – Stage of the Ages.

In partnership with the Sofia Opera and Ballet the festival will boast one of the first Bulgarian opera works “Borislav” which will open the event on July 24.  The whole festival will run from July 24th – Aug 1st 2015.  There will be 6 performances for you to enjoy:

24/7 and 25/7 –  Bulgarian opera “Borislav”

28/7  – Ballet “Zorba the Greek”

29/7 – Ballet (performance for children) “Winne the Pooh”

31/7 and 1/8 – Sofia Opera and Ballet “Boris Godunov”

Tickets can be purchased from the tourist information centre in Veliko Tarnovo and at eventim.bg.

July Morning Fest in front of the Rectorate at Sveta Gora Hill

July Morning is a hippie-influenced fest that started in 1972. The name of the event is closely related to Uriah Heep’s hit July Morning which was widely popular in Bulgaria at the time. It’s a unique fest that exists only in this country. Groups of people gather on the eve of July, 1st, usually at the beach, and stay up all night to meet the first Sun rays on the first day of July. They start fires, share drinks and play music while they wait for the sunrise. Although there are a number of versions at to what this tradition signifies, most people consider July Morning a celebration of the new beginning and the freedom of the spirit. It is considered that that the fest started as a subtle act of protest against the communist regime. Continue Reading

Tvarditsa – Elena Rally 2015 to be held on 27th and 28th June

rali_tvardicaThe eleventh edition of the Tvarditsa – Elena Rally will be held on 27th and 28th  July. The rehabilitation of Elena – Tvarditsa lot was completed recently so the road conditions will be very good.

The official start of the Tvarditsa – Elena Rally 2015 will be given on June 27, Saturday at 5.00 pm in Svoboda Square in Tvarditsa. The final is scheduled for the next day at 15:30 in Svoboda Square again. To the delight of the spectators during the first day one of the stages will be held in the evening hours. On Sunday the rally will continue along a route which was part of the legendary Golden Sands Rally from the near past. The total distance the cars will have to cover is 106 km. Continue Reading
