Open air cinema tomorrow night in Veliko Tarnovo

Tomorrow, 4^th August, the Summer Theatre in Marno Pole Park will host a one-off projection of the 2014 Bulgarian movie Urok (The Lesson), directed by Christina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov. It is one of the most awarded Bulgarian flicks for the last 25 year, having won 12 awards and being nominated for another 7 at various international film festivals. Maybe your Bulgarian is not so good but still you can savour the atmosphere and enjoy a niece movie under the starry skies. Entrance is free.

Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport: Follow-up

The Procedure for granting the Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport concession has officially started, it was announced by the Government Press Service. On July, 29th the Cabinet adopted a decision to launch the procedure for granting a public service concession for the operation and management of Gorna Oryahovitsa Civil Airport.

The main goal will be to attract a financially stable private investor to contribute to the development of the operations of the airport, ensure airport traffic and improve the airport’s commercial activities, was also said in the Government press release.

With the right investment in runways, buildings and equipment the airport is sure to bring the attention of many low cost and cargo airlines.

A journey back in time on Mount Buzludzha

More than 1000 members and followers of the Bulgarian Socialist Party from Veliko Tarnovo area are expected to take part in the traditional Mount Buzludzha Fest. The event is going to take place on July, 31^st and August, 1^st. The official launch of Buzludzha 2015 is scheduled for 10.30 am on Friday. The procedure for granting the Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport concession will be open within days

So maybe you are fed up with the long waiting but reportedly the procedure for granting the concession for the management of the International Airport in Gorna Oryahovitsa will be open in a few days; the information was published in Trud Newspaper. The procedure is part of the Strategy for the development of the transport system of the Republic of Bulgaria until 2020. In the following days the Council of Ministers is expected to adopt a resolution to grant the management of the aerodrome to a financially stable private investor who is to strengthen the positions and widen the scope of the airport. The procedure itself will likely start in September and the concessionaire is expected to be chosen by the end of the year. Continue Reading

The flags on the western and eastern exits of Veliko Tarnovo to be replaced

The replacement of a total of 180 flags on the western and eastern exits of Veliko Tarnovo starts from today. They are suspended from post lamps which are also to be repaired and repainted. The colours of the European Union, Bulgaria and Veliko Tarnovo will meet and see off everyone entering or leaving the Old Capital of Bulgaria. The impeccable condition of these insignia is a must for the Municipality as they are an important part of the positive image of Veliko Tarnovo.
