Visit the Christmas Market Charity Chalet helping the homeless animals of VT

624-400-veliko-tyrnovoAs we already informed you yesterday the Marno Pole Christmas Market in Veliko Tarnovo opens on December, 1st. It will comprise of 25 chalets offering various goods and you can visit it every day from 10 am will 8 pm. One of these chalets will be raising funds for a charity. It will be called Charity Chalet of Friends of Animals VT.

image003There you can donate money and food for the stray animals of Veliko Tarnovo; you can also donate blankets, bedding and toys for the dogs in the Municipality Shelter. For each donation you will receive a small gift of gratitude. The gifts include calendars with pictures of the dogs from the shelter, fridge magnets with cats, souvenirs and Christmas baubles. The Charity Chalet is the first on the left after the one of Santa Claus.

If it is more convenient for you can purchase dog or cat food from one of the vet clinics or pet shop in VT and leave it there. Then just drop by the Chalet and let the people there know what you’ve bought and from where and it will be collected from there.

The activity of the Charity Chalet of Friends of Animals VT was made possible by the kind sponsorship of our friends from Yantra Homes, Hadji Nikoli Inn and Wild Rovers 4×4 who promptly responded to Friends of Animals VT plea for help.

Marno Pole Christmas Market in VT opens on December, 1st

19215_650__3The annual Christmas Market in Veliko Tarnovo opens on December, 1st. Just like previous years it will be located at Marno Pole Park in the centre of the town. The park will be adorned with festive decorations and attractive lighting and will feature 25 chalets and a children’ fairground.

The market is inspired by the traditional Austrian Christmas markets and will bring us the spirit of the Christmas season with lots of attractions, amusements, events and concerts. The chalets will offer unique handmade gifts, Christmas decorations and toys, souvenirs, works of arts and crafts, seasonal goods, confectionery and culinary delights throughout the whole of December. In the Glühwein House everyone can try Mulled wine and Austrian wursts (sausages). There will also be a covered scene where various concerts and events will be held every day. And of course kids will be able post their letters to Santa until 24th December at the Christmas Post Office under the most majestic spruce in the park.

The Christmas Market in Marno Pole Park will be open every day until December, 31st from 10 am till 8 pm.

Moscow Classical Ballet with a show in Veliko Tarnovo

The Moscow Classical Ballet is to stage a performance in Veliko Tarnovo for the very first time. The show will take place on December, 10th from 7 pm at the Vasil Levski Sports and Culture Hall. The play which we will be able to enjoy is The Nutcracker. The ballet is visiting Veliko Tarnovo as part of the events marking the 30th anniversary of the sports and arts venue.

The troupe was founded in 1966 and used to be named the State Academic Classical Ballet Theatre. It is now globally knows as the Moscow Classical Ballet. The Ballet is often referred as the Ballet Star Factory. Many of the world renowned ballet dancers were formed here, to name just a few – Irek Mukhamedov, soloist at Covent Garden, Galina Sepanenko, prima at the Bolshoi Theatre, Vladimir Malakhov, artistic director and soloist at the German State Opera in Berlin, soloist at the American Ballet Theatre and a guest dancer at Vienna State Opera. Dancers from the academy have won more than 20 gold medals at various international and prestigious competitions.

The Ballet has never been in Bulgaria until now and their tour in the country will start from Veliko Tarnovo.

European acknowledgement for three festivals taking place in Veliko Tarnovo

Veliko Tarnovo Municipality received European recognition for the high quality of the Scene of the centuries, Arbanassi Summer Music and On the Eastern coast of Europe festivals which the town is hosting each year. Тhey were granted the prestigious status European Festival of 2015/2016 at a ceremony in the capital.

The winning festivals have contributed greatly for the strengthening of Veliko Tarnovo’s unofficial position as the Balkan capital of cultural tourism. The events were included in the pilot project of the European Commission and the Europe for the Festivals. The Festivals for Europe Platform. The project involved more than 100 cultural happenings from all over Bulgaria, and official status and award was granted only to 26 of them.

The summer opera festival Scene of the Ages, the festival of classical music Arbanassi Summer music and the film festival On the East Coast of Europe will be included in an international festival guide that will have its print and electronic form. The European status and the awards they received show their significant importance for the promotion of Bulgarian culture and art across the globe.

Veliko Tarnovo marks the World Prematurity Day

Veliko Tarnovo is taking part in yet another world campaign. On November, 17th we mark the World Prematurity Day across the globe. Veliko Tarnovo Municipality is participating in the campaign to show its support for the families of babies born pre-term. This day is observed each year to raise awareness of pre-term birth and the concerns of premature babies and their families worldwide.

On this day sites with significant importance around the world are lit in purple. Veliko Tarnovo with its Tsarevets Fortress won’t make an exception. Today, from 7 pm Tsarevets Fortress is going  to glow in purple for half an hour as a sign of Veliko Tarnovo’s and its citizens’ sympathy for the premature babies and their families and in memory of those who unfortunately lost their battle for life.
