A new increase in the numbers of coronavirus infected in Bulgaria

Bulgaria ranks 21st in Europe and second in the Balkans in the number of people infected with the coronavirus. Our country ranks 10th in mortality rate from COVID-19 in Europe and 4th on the Balkan Peninsula. All municipalities in the country are either in the red or in the orange zone, there are no districts in the green zone.

For the last 24 hours, the National Information Portal reports 2,760 new cases of COVID-19, which is 191 more than the 2,569 infected ones registered the day before. Thus the percentage of positive tests increased again and from 22.88% reached 27.74%.

The distribution by districts is as follows: Sofia city – 1075; Sofia region – 58; Plovdiv – 206; Blagoevgrad – 160; Varna – 146; Ruse – 131;  Stara Zagora – 100; Shumen – 100; Burgas – 87; Pernik – 66; Gabrovo – 61; Pleven – 55; Targovishte – 54; Sliven – 47; Vratsa – 46; Kyustendil – 43; Kardzhali – 37; Pazardzhik – 36; Haskovo – 33; Veliko Tarnovo – 33; Lovech – 31; Yambol – 29; Razgrad – 26; Smolyan – 25; Silistra – 24; Montana – 18; Vidin – 18; Dobrich – 15.

The number of active cases continues to increase and is now 25,105, of which 2,316 are hospitalized. 162 people are accommodated in intensive care. 31,062 people are under quarantine. The number of people admitted to hospitals for treatment is increasing by a third per week. Most deaths are in the 70-79 age group, which is 32% of all coronavirus infected.

In the past 24 hours, 36 people have died from complications of the viral infection, 11 more than yesterday. Thus, the victims of COVID-19 in our country are already 1,197. The cured people for the past 24 hours are 216 which makes the total number 19,159.
