The Fourth Summer Season of “The Stage of the Ages” 2019, which was awarded the prestigious label “Europe for the festivals. Festivals for Europe“2019-2020 will be held from 13th July to 4th October in Veliko Tarnovo. There are 7 titles in this year’s music event including ballet, opera and symphonic concert.

Veliko Tarnovo received European recognition for its summer festivals
For the third consecutive time, Veliko Tarnovo received European recognition for two of the most popular cultural forums in Bulgaria and abroad. The “Stage of the Ages” Summer Opera Festival and the Arbanasi Summer Music International Classical Chamber Music Festival are awarded the European Festival for 2019 and 2020 marks. The festivals are approved by an international jury of the European Festival Association, supported by the European Commission and the European Parliament.
Six performances to be shown at the Stage of the Ages Opera Festival
Six impressive performances will be presented this year during the Stage of the Ages Opera Festival. The venue as usual will be Tsarevets Fortress.
The festival will be launched on July, 15th. The first play to delight fans of classical art will be The Count of Monte Cristo based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas.
On 23rd July residents and guests of Veliko Tarnovo can see the opera Nabucco. The next show is scheduled for July 29th – Aida by Giuseppe Verdi; and on August 5th you can see the ballet show Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus. The calendar continues on August 27th with Carmen by Georges Bizet. The rock opera Jesus Christ superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber is to be staged on September, 3rd.
The Stage of the Ages Summer Opera Festival received the prestigious European Festivals – Festivals in Europe award for year 2015/2016. The seats available for each show will be more than 1800. Tickets are priced between 10 and 40 leva and can be purchased from the Municipal Tourist Agency office and on the Internet.
