Veliko Tarnovo hosts the Police Academy Motor Stunt Show on 17, 18 and 19th June. The show makes it possible for the first time ever for Bulgarian audience to enjoy a stunt show with bikes, cars, hot dancing and great music. Guests from Italy and the best stunters in Bulgaria will take part in the show. The event kick starts on Friday from 7 pm. There will be 2 performances on Saturday – from 5 pm and 7 pm and on 2 on Sunday – from 11 am and 6 pm. The venue is the circus arena behind Billa Store. The public will be protected by metal barriers and fences. Tickets can be bought on the spot and cost 7 leva for children aged 3 – 12 and 10 leva for adult and kids over 12 yo.

Six performances to be shown at the Stage of the Ages Opera Festival
Six impressive performances will be presented this year during the Stage of the Ages Opera Festival. The venue as usual will be Tsarevets Fortress.
The festival will be launched on July, 15th. The first play to delight fans of classical art will be The Count of Monte Cristo based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas.
On 23rd July residents and guests of Veliko Tarnovo can see the opera Nabucco. The next show is scheduled for July 29th – Aida by Giuseppe Verdi; and on August 5th you can see the ballet show Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus. The calendar continues on August 27th with Carmen by Georges Bizet. The rock opera Jesus Christ superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber is to be staged on September, 3rd.
The Stage of the Ages Summer Opera Festival received the prestigious European Festivals – Festivals in Europe award for year 2015/2016. The seats available for each show will be more than 1800. Tickets are priced between 10 and 40 leva and can be purchased from the Municipal Tourist Agency office and on the Internet.

The highways passing near Veliko Tarnovo with clear routes now
The routes for the two highways that will pass near Veliko Tarnovo are already clear, the local newspaper Borba announced. Officially Hemus Motorway will run north of Polikraishte, about 13-14 km from the old capital. There will also be a large road junction where Hemus intersects the planned highway between Ruse and Veliko Tarnovo. The Ruse – Veliko Tarnovo Highway is to cross the current Sofia – Varna main arterial road near the village of Momin Sbor.
Hemus Motorway is to enter Veliko Tarnovo area near the village of Varbovka (close to Pavlikeni) and will go south to Mihaltsi. It will pass near Lesicheri, Dichin, Vodoley and will reach Polikraishte; it will then continue in the direction of Sushitsa and Gorski Senovets and all the way to Belokopitovo and Shumen.
The Ruse – Veliko Tarnovo Highway is to be constructed at the same time. The selected route will run north of Byala and north of Polski Trambesh near the village of Obedinenie and towards Momin Sbor and Ledenik and then straight to Debelets. Its construction begins next year.
The property market was quick to react to the news. The first deals for plots of land near the planned routes are already underway. A boom in property prices along the highways is also to be expected.
The Central Post Office in Veliko Tarnovo to become a 5-star hotel
The Post Office in the very centre of Veliko Tarnovo is set to become a luxury 5-star hotel, it was announced by the Chief Architect of the Municipality Nikolay Malakov. The current owners have already announced their intentions and will start working on the project shortly.
The building that used to be owned by the Bulgarian National Telekom/Vivacom until recently housed the Customer Service Centre of the company. It is built over 5 floors in the shape of the Bulgaria letter П, with a courtyard and garages accessible from the south. Its total built-up area is just over 1380 square meters, according to the local newspaper borbabg.com.
The idea of the new owners is for the ground floor facing the street to host many shops. Some of them have already been realized and operate with a separate entrance for each.
The hall with the telephone booths is to be converted into a posh ice cream parlour. The investments only for the ice cream shop is expected to reach about 100,000 leva. The entire building is owned by a developer who bought it from the state in December, 2009 for 1,6 million euro. Until now he rented it out to its previous owner – Vivacom.

Beer and Grill Festival – Veliko Tarnovo Mezi
Citizens and guest of Veliko Tarnovo are to be indulged with an unforgettable four-day experience during the Balkan grill festival Veliko Tarnovo Mezi* which will be held from 26th till 29th May at the circus site behind Billa Store. Admission is free and organizers are promising fun, sports activities, music and delicious food prepared by the best masters of the grill from Serbia, Turkey, Macedonia and Greece. Activities and stalls open from 10 am till 10 pm each day.
The event coincides with the fourth anniversary of the leading brewery in Veliko Tarnovo – Britos. 1000 gifts and 100 liters of free beer will be distributed by the brewery as part of the awards during the festival. The amount of beer that will be consumed during the feast is a hard task to measure and no one is willing to predict it.
During the four day there will be all-day music program, children’s Sports Academy, five-hours long concerts, children’s workshops, dance workshops, family relay, mini football, street ball for children, children rides and for the first time in Bulgaria – Bubble football and paintball with bows; there will also be a Backgammon and Belote tournaments.
A huge cinema screen will broadcast the greatest matches in the history of Bulgarian football every night from 8 pm as well as the Champions League Final.
