Knitting with corn husks or the so called belenitsa, will be shown in the Historical Museum of Gorna Oryahovitsa on 12th September. On Saturday the visitors of the museum will learn about the history of this craft and they can also take part in the workshops which will be set up and try to master the knitting.
Family ticket to enter the exhibitions at the museum is 2 leva; it provides an opportunity to participate in the game Mystery of the museum.
The forgotten traditional craft has been known since ancient times. Among the products made of maize leaves were mats, bags and pot covers. Maize husks were weaved mainly by young women and girls during the long autumn and winter evenings.
