The 8th edition of Trabant Motor Show will take place on March, 18th in Veliko Tarnovo. The local Trabant Fan Club is expecting more than 80 East German cars from Bulgaria, Romania, Germany and Russia to participate in the expo.
The trabis, as some call them endearingly, will be on display at the parking lot between the Army Club Building and Marno Pole Park from 10 am till 11 am. From 11 till 12 am they will be in front of the Municipality. At 12 they will parade along the streets of Veliko Tarnovo on their way towards the parking in front of Praktiker. There Trabant owners will show off their expert driving skills. There will be prizes for best preserved vehicle and also for best car tuning.
This famous car was produced in the German Democratic Republic between the years 1957-1991 at a factory in Zwickau, during which period more than 3 million vehicles have been constructed.
Attractive event for dog-owners and dog-lovers will be held on 30 July in the Monuments Area in Svishtov. The dog exhibition will have competitive character and will feature 3 categories. The first will be for small dogs weighing up to 10 kg, the second category will cover pooches from 10 to 20 kg, while the third will be for barking pets above 20 kg. Each category will have prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place; they are provided by sponsors, owners of pet stores, veterinary clinics and a leading brand in the manufacturing of veterinary medicines. Dogs will be evaluated by a competent jury based on their appearance and special abilities. There will also be an audience award given for the best liked animal.
An important condition to enrol your dogs for participation is for them to have passports with vaccination records. These documents have to be presented on the day of the competition.
Veliko Tarnovo hosts the Police Academy Motor Stunt Show on 17, 18 and 19th June. The show makes it possible for the first time ever for Bulgarian audience to enjoy a stunt show with bikes, cars, hot dancing and great music. Guests from Italy and the best stunters in Bulgaria will take part in the show. The event kick starts on Friday from 7 pm. There will be 2 performances on Saturday – from 5 pm and 7 pm and on 2 on Sunday – from 11 am and 6 pm. The venue is the circus arena behind Billa Store. The public will be protected by metal barriers and fences. Tickets can be bought on the spot and cost 7 leva for children aged 3 – 12 and 10 leva for adult and kids over 12 yo.
The logo of the candidature of Veliko Tarnovo for the European Cultural Capital 2019 will be the culmination of the three-dimensional light show on the facade of Boris Denev Art Gallery on March 22, Veliko Tarnovo Day.
The attraction with duration of 15 minutes will start at 8pm. The show combines lights and lasers, 3D mapping and spectacular pyrotechnical effects. The three-dimensional images on the facade of the art gallery will recreate events from Bulgaria and Veliko Tarnovo’s history.
A total of 10 lasers, 120 intelligent light appliances, 4 projectors and 4 server computers will be used for the implementation of the show and video processing used for the mapping.
This year 4 more full colour new generation lasers will be used to make the show even more spectacular., which then will be followed by gorgeous fireworks. Weather-permitting, there will be an additional surprise on the Stambolov Bridge.
In order to guarantee the safety of citizens and guests of Veliko Tarnovo, access to the bridge and the Asenevtsi Monument will be temporarily restricted.
The 3D show can be observed from Gurko Street, Teodosiy Tarnovski Street and the panoramic terraces along the Nezavisimost Street.
